Just a Girl

Just a girl

She
wears her nicest dress on Sunday and
sits with her legs crossed in church
(even though she doesn’t buy into gender stereotypes).

Just a girl

She
hates pantyhose, perfume and lipstick
because it never comes in the right colour
for moving mountains.

Just a girl

She
can’t part the ocean so she just parts her hair
on the left this time
hiding her eyes
hiding what water can’t mask and make-up will never wash away.

I like your powetry a lot. I could put a feminist reading on this one too...

Your poetics are surprisingly distinctive and articulate are surprising for someone who hasn't had much opportunity to formally study poetry yet.

When I look at the stuff I wrote three years ago it isn't nearly half as good as the stuff you're writing now. Keep it up.

I can't believe how bad that typo is.

"Powetry"

Wow. I'm a n00b.

thank you. That means a lot coming from someone of your poetic calibre. And yes, you're right. I really need to stop writing angry feminist poetry. God is working on me, I'll produce a joyful poem yet.

as in "newbi," it is computer gaming slang. A n00b (and those are zeroes not 'o's) is someone who is new to the gaming community and is the focus of much derision by the older gamers.

I myself do not play computer games, I am privy to this information via Jerry.

And I spelled "newbie" wrong.

I am a n00b.
